"Polychrome Cup And Saucer In Fine Saxon Porcelain, Germany - XIX Centhury"
Fine Saxon porcelain cup and saucer, Polychrome, late19th century, early 20th century. Saxony factory, circa 1900. Fine porcelain with polychrome and gold decoration. Height: 6.2 cm - Saucer diameter 12.5 cm. Elegant tea cup and matching saucer, in fine Saxon porcelain, richly decorated with polychrome decoration enhanced with gold. The rim features a complex arrangement of stylized floral motifs and arabesques in cobalt blue, carmine red, imperial yellow and deep black, framed with hand-applied gold fillets. The base of the cup reveals a finely painted gallant scene, representing a couple in period costume in a pastoral landscape, typical of the romantic taste of the 19th century. The saucer uses the same decorative codes, creating a visual harmony of great delicacy. The quality of the paste, the finesse of the decoration and the generous use of gold testify to the exceptional know-how of the Saxon manufacturers, probably Meissen or an affiliated house, at a time when porcelain was synonymous with prestige and refinement. Condition: very good overall condition; slight wear to the gold.
