VIRGIN AND CHILD in dark blue, green, ochre and "manganese" glazed earth.
Height: 19 cm.
MANERBE, LE PRÉ D'AUGE, 17th century.

Two accidents restored "museum style" on the terrace.
The photographs show the statuette before and after restoration carried out in modeling plaster and watercolor; it is therefore easily reversible and replaced by a more sophisticated restoration.
These statuettes are of the greatest rarity in the production of these lower Normandy centers. Some examples are listed in the specialized literature, in particular the famous "nurse", but I have not found any trace of "Virgin and Child" there. This is therefore a piece of prime interest.
Bibliography consulted:

" National Museum of Ceramics and Arras Museum.
