Very beautiful and rare Buddhist bas-relief probably from East Asia, such a stele could be placed in a temple, a monastery or a rock sanctuary, it served as a support for meditation, prayers, and as a meritorious offering for a donor. Buddhist iconography, scene called the two Buddhas very characteristic of the steles of the Lotus Sutra. White marble, dating to be determined but probably SUI Dynasty (approx. 550-618), late 6th early 7th century. White marble stele, very thick and therefore very heavy. Dimensions: H 64 x W 46 x D 14 cm
