"Light Cavalry Saber Of The Imperial Guard By Boutet, Model Year Ix, First Empire"
Three-pronged brass hilt of the hunter type, long-tailed cap. Wooden grip covered in calfskin decorated with a double copper filigree and a gilt brass olive. Blued and gilt blade, engraved from the heel with various trophies and garlands, signed in a cartouche, guard side "Coulaux frères" and counterguard side "Manufacture de Klingenthal". On both sides of the blade is the imperial eagle (The decoration of this blade is in all respects identical to the blade of the Boutet sabre appearing on page 283 of the book "Sabres français" by Christian Blondieau). Scabbard with cut-out steel ear-pieces with two faceted steel bail bracelets, signed "Manuf imp Boutet Versailles". The scabbard with cut-out recessed ear-pieces with bracelets and faceted bail studs (diamond style) are of great finesse. The chape, on the counterguard side, is signed "Manuf imp Boutet à Versailles". See Tradition Magazine issue 145. See old Pierre-Maxime Glain collection, first sale in Angers 1981 no. 160 of the catalog. See book "Sabres français" by Christian Blondieau, page 283.
