"Lefévre Clock, Successor To De Belle "
Superb gilt bronze clock signed Lefévre, successor of De Belle in Paris. This one dates from the very beginning of the 19th century (probably around 1810). "Lefevre in Paris": this signature corresponds to the clockmaker Pierre-Honoré Lefèvre (or Lefebvre). The latter maintained strong commercial and friendly relations with his fellow clockmaker Jean-François Debelle. Thus, in 1803, after the death of Debelle, his widow, Catherine-Sophie Martin, was forced to return a large part of the clocks presented in the store, exactly twenty-nine, to Lefèvre who lived at the same address. The latter, totally absent from specialized works, seems to have had a large and very high quality production. He was professionally and morally linked to Debelle with whom he collaborated and to whom he entrusted the sale of many clocks made by him or which he had entirely financed; then the two men shared the profits. Pierre-Honoré Lefèvre bought the business of his colleague and friend Jean-François Debelle and continued the workshop activity with some success. Our clock is in perfect working order and in its original gilding. DIMENSIONS: 30CM WIDE X 15CM DEEP AND 35CM HEIGHT. DELIVERY ON QUOTE
