Batcham Bamiléké mask from Cameroon. Dimensions: 48 cm high and 23 cm wide, and 18 cm deep for what could have been a seat for children during circumcision ceremonies. Condition: Wood-eating holes, losses, wear. Circa 1950. On the vertical plane, the mask is deployed around two symmetrical parts separated by a median ridge, each part being decorated by parallel arched furrows which represent the eyebrows. The eyes are positioned at the level where the second plane is articulated; large and oval in shape.
