Fingerboard molded in relief with a rooster on a background of a bundle of flags, adorned with three riveted silver stars. Pommel decorated with the glittering, winged spindle of Jupiter and acanthus leaves. Wooden knuckle covered in black waxed calfskin. Laurel branch ferrules. Wide, double-edged fullered blade, length 77.2 cm, width at the heel 3 cm. Scarlet cloth cravat. Wooden scabbard covered in black varnished calfskin with two gilt bronze fittings, chape signed "MANCEAUX A PARIS". France. July Monarchy. Good condition, the mount has kept all its gilding, the watermark is missing, some oxidation spots on the blade, flaking of the varnish on the leather of the scabbard, scabbard fittings rubbed in places.
