"The Port. Oil On Wood. Late 19th, Early 20th Century. "
Here we are immersed in the activity of a port probably at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century. This painting is undoubtedly a travel sketch made in the setting. In the center of the composition, we see a steamboat giving off thick smoke, numerous electrical wires, signs, a parked car and in the foreground on the left a steering wheel which brings a little mystery. Is the painter in a car a boat on the quay? The color palette is earthy: browns, beiges, dark greens, with some touches of blue and yellow. The treatment of light and shadows is quick, almost sketched, which gives a feeling of movement and spontaneity. Oil on wood. Dimensions: 18 x 24 cm
