Elegant baluster vase in polychrome enameled porcelain, probably late 19th, very early 20th century decorated in the Famille Rose (fencai) style. This type of ceramic is renowned for its delicate colors and refined scenes. Front: a finely painted court scene depicting women and children in a traditional Chinese garden, under a pavilion. The expression of the faces, the richness of the costumes and the liveliness of the floral details illustrate the high level of artistic mastery. Back: a vertical calligraphic inscription in black Chinese characters, probably a poem or a tribute, including the signature. This detail adds a literate and cultural touch to the object. Handles: the neck is flanked by two openwork handles in the shape of stylized dragons, originally gilded, typical of ceremonial porcelain.
