"Pair Of Small Ointment Pots, 18th Century Moustiers Earthenware, Signed Pelloquin."
These small 'baluster' shaped pots on pedestals and with two large snake-shaped handles were used, like pharmacy pots, to contain ointments, apothecary creams or balms. They are animated by the dance of three young women, in a wooded landscape, under the gaze of a fourth, older woman. Two handles, in the shape of two-headed snakes, adorn the sides. The necks and the pedestals receive a floral motif. Under the base, Pelloquin's signature, for these two shaped pieces, in perfect condition. Previously associated, Joseph Fouque transferred his shares to Joseph François Pelloquin, from 1783, who will continue the manufacture alone with his signature in the capital 'P' accompanied by the 'o'.
