These armchairs, with their sculptural and assertive design by Maison Jansen, were made around 1970 in a modernist neoclassical style, emblematic of the famous Parisian house.
The chromed metal structure assembles to form a fluid and balanced X-shaped base, topped with curved armrests and uprights, adorned with stylized terminations.
The slightly curved leather armrests extend the curve of the backrest, while the ornamental details (center rosette, rotating terminals) underline the quality of execution specific to Jansen.
The seat and backrest are stretched by wide straps in patinated bleached leather, secured by refined lateral lacing, which offers comfort and flexibility. With this "Savonarola" model inspired by the curule seats of Roman Antiquity, Maison Jansen combines historical references and contemporary design with great mastery.
They are in used condition: some wear on the leather parts of the 4 seats, but the leathers have remained in very good condition.
The chrome parts are in very good condition.
Nothing missing; just one foot pad has been replaced.
