"Napoleon III Column Mesh Bracelet, Garnets, Heliotrope Jasper Seal, Yellow Gold"
This 750/°° yellow gold bracelet (18 KT, eagle's head hallmark) is very representative of its Second Empire / Napoleon III period. Effectively resulting from the adaptation of a watch chain from this period, it includes all the characteristic elements: a double column link chain sliders (here fixed), decorated on both sides with two garnets (four garnets per element) the garnets: very appreciated at this time; these present a very beautiful quality both for their deep purplish pink color and for their great vivacity the seal: here adapted as a charm, it adorned the end of watch chains, and were intended to receive the seal of their owner. To do this, this seal was provided with a plate of heliotrope jasper (called blood jasper), intended to receive an intaglio, which was never made. The seal is also set with garnets, chiseled gold motifs joining the two column chains, and palmette and acanthus leaf motifs, responding to the neo-antique taste of the time, on the motifs decorated with garnets, a spring ring of beautiful importance for clasp. The unequal segments of this bracelet also give it all its originality. A very beautifully made jewel, adorned with magnificent garnets (whose brilliance and color are unfortunately difficult to reproduce in photos). This bracelet as a whole is very flexible and offers a very pleasant "second skin" wearing comfort.
