André Prugent practically never left his town of Périgueux. He attended the drawing school whose director was the painter Jean-Louis Daniel who made him his favorite, so much so that at 18 he was already exhibiting his paintings at the Société des Beaux Arts. On returning from the war he took up his brushes again: he loved to find himself in the Perigord countryside with Emile Chaumont, Gustave Chérifel, André Saigne to capture on the spot and in a bold style in the movement of impressionism, the play of light, the sun, which make the charm of this region: some of his works evoke Van Goth! In 1929, he was received by the French Artists and exhibited there until 1939. Landscape painter, with a prolific work, but also portraitist and illustrator, André Prugent is considered one of the most talented painters of the School of Périgueux. In 1965 he exhibited for the last time at the Palais des Fêtes in Périgueux. He was 83 years old! Sources: Société des Beaux Arts de la Dordogne 1985.
