Venetian Louis XV Frame, Lacquered And Carved – 18th Century
Elegant Venetian frame from the Louis XV period, dating circa 1750. Crafted in carved wood, it features a refined decoration with rocaille motifs and leafy cartouches at the corners and sides, executed with great care and artistic sensibility.
The frame is lacquered and gilded, likely with an antique finish, although it cannot be confirmed that the lacquer is original. Time has given the surface an enchanting craquelure, typical of gesso-based gilt decorations.
The overall condition is good: the structure is sound and intact, with minor surface losses consistent with the object’s age.
External dimensions: 81 × 103 cmSight area (inner opening): 61.5 × 80.5 cm
Suitable for framing 18th-century paintings, especially religious subjects or portraits. Origin: Venice.
