"Louis XVI Period Writing Desk In Citronnier And Amaranth - Late 18th Century"
A secretaire desk in moiré citronnier veneer, mahogany, and ebony inlays and brass fillets. This is a Bordeaux work veneered on oak from the late 18th century or very early 19th century. This beautiful, refined piece of furniture opens with a drop-leaf top revealing a theater with numerous small drawers. The worktop is lined with green leather for writing, gilded with small irons. The bottom is a cupboard and a drawer under the marble. Our desk is a late Louis XVI production that may have been made under the Directory, in the years 1790-1800. A piece of excellent craftsmanship, it is veneered with refined wood species: moiré citronnier for a luminous effect and pearly reflections, enriched with brass and ebony fillets in mahogany frames. The clover locks are another sign of quality. A very fine collector's item. Louis XVI citronnier furniture is presented in the greatest museums. Our piece of furniture is in excellent condition. It comes from our cabinetmaker who restored it and re-varnished it with a French polish, the old-fashioned way (and not spray-applied).
