Bronze Mask, Baoulé Blacksmith Sign, Ivory Coast
Superb little Baoulé Bronze mask, height 22 cm, used condition with a beautiful old natural oxidation patina. These masks served as "advertising" for the blacksmiths, they were hung in the hut as proof of know-how, a work of mastery, they are recognizable by their perfection, fine and perfectly symmetrical work, richness of the decoration and perfectly executed casting, without holes or bumps (unlike works for the tourist market). From a good Belgian collection.
