Lucienne Verhaegen, 1914-1994, known as Verag, Russian painter, draftsman and graphic artist born in Makiïvka in Ukraine. She was a student at the Riga Academy in Latvia then at the Brussels Academy with Alfred Bastien and in graphic design at the Watermael-Boitsfort Academy with R. Kayser and S. Richir. Her many travels in South America inspired her to paint exotic female figures with large black eyes, simple, humble and cunning beings. Predilection for figures of round women, with large expressive naive eyes, in search of tenderness, love and friendship. She began in Montreal in 1950 and then was active in Belgium. She participated in numerous exhibitions in Germany, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Italy. Artist listed in Bénézit, Arto and Piron. Listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
This canvas, well stretched on its original frame, is in very good condition.
The painting, never cleaned, not dirty, is in very good condition, neither repainted nor repaired, nothing shows up under UV light. Some small wear visible at the top and bottom on the close-up photos.
