Trouville-sur-mer Beach - Normandy - After Albert Marquet
Artist: D'après Albert Marquet
Oil on canvas of the Trouville seafront. Around 1940.
In the background on the left we can see what appears to be the Casino. In front of it, in the background, a sentry box or a small beach hut, then on the right, along the beach, we see a boat and beach umbrella tents in two-tone marquees, characteristic of seaside resorts. On the far right of the composition, the black mass could be the fossil cliffs of the black cows near Villers-sur-Mer. The work bears the apocryphal signature Marquet at the bottom right.
