Ceremonial hanging or shawl in sewn silk strips originating from Tunisia Djerba and dating from the first half of the 20th century. Wide shaped silk strips alternating with narrower stripes with very strong polychromy and black silk fringes on one end. Tunis was famous in the 19th century for its weaving of shaped silk and ribbons which is here a fascinating testimony to Tunisian craftsmanship. Beautiful fluidity and solidity of this piece which is to be reused in orientalist decoration. No defects to note. Very good condition of colors and conservation.
