Geneviève Chapront was born on October 30, 1909 in Rochefort-sur-Mer (Charente-Maritime). Student of her father, the painter and illustrator Henry Chapront (1876-1965), she began at the Salon d'Automne in 1933, under the name Khmelukova, then took up her name again when she exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries between 1935 and 1946 and at the Salon des Femmes Peintres, notably in 1946. Close to the Communist Party, she participated in several exhibitions organized by the latter. She also exhibited at Henri Ramey's Populist Salon as well as at the Salon des Indépendants.
