Polychrome linden sculpture of Bridget of Sweden. Southern Germany, late 15th century. Height 58 cm. Saint Bridget is dressed as the mother superior of the Cistercian sisters, an order founded by Saint Benedict. She holds the book, an attribute of the rule of Saint Benedict. A similar sculpture is mentioned in Jacqueline Boccador's book, Medieval Statuary in France from 1400 to 1530 on page 405. A certificate from Guido de Vooght will be given to the buyer. Condition report: damaged base, largely original polychromy, missing left arm, treated wormholes.
