The roofs of Carcassonne and the bell tower of the Saint-Vincent church
Oil on canvas

Intentionally hidden by an overpaint. By removing the intentional overpaint on the signature, the author of this painting will reappear. On the back, on the stretcher, a modern inscription indicates the name of "Cazaban" for Louis Joseph Cazaban, a painter from the region. Someone with malicious intent wanted to pass this painting off as a work by Cazaban, by masking the identity of its true author. Nevertheless, this large post-impressionist canvas is of better quality than the artist cited... Nothing to envy then. The colors, declined in a panel of pastel ochres, allow the different planes to blend elegantly, to feature like a pinnacle, the bell tower of the Saint-Vincent church. This area of Caracassonne, less well known than the fortress, is nevertheless full of charm and wonderfully represented on this canvas.
