Emile Allard (20th) Dominates The Towers Gate
Artist: Emile Allard
Emile ALLARD
(20th century)
The Porte des Tours in Domme
Watercolour
H. 35 cm; W. 48 cm
Signed lower left. Dated on the back "September 30, 1960"
Emile Allard left few traces of his artistic creations. Another known work of his, in oil, represents a village most certainly in Périgord, but mentions his address in Libourne, via a stamp on the back of the panel. He actually got married there in 1933. He did not exhibit at the Bordeaux salons, which does not confirm the knowledge of his work. Our watercolour produced in 1960 takes up the very famous Dommois framing of the Porte des Tours taken from the road entering the bastide.
