A teacher in our department, Joussen joined the academic inspection quite quickly and had a career there lasting around thirty years. After the great world conflict during which he distinguished himself and was decorated, he devoted himself to painting, mainly alongside Jean-Louis Daniel, whom he considered his master. He was inspired by this colorist to evolve and paint in bold but fine touches, landscapes of Dordogne or Corrèze like still lifes.
His post-impressionist works are mostly preserved by his descendants.
This house located in the hamlet of Veyssou in the commune of Montvalent near Rocamadour (north-west) has changed little in its architecture until today. The slate roof of the turret has certainly been replaced economically by flat tiles, but the appearance of the house remains the same. The vegetation has moved closer to the house compared to the month of July 1930 when Joussen applied his lively touches and sculpted the walls and roofs.
