ORIGINAL stencil.
Framed piece (modern frame under blue mat and black strips, 430 x 500 mm), not having been examined out of frame.
Small marginal foxing without aesthetic gravity, the red tonal colors are a little faded, very good condition otherwise.
Dimensions: Drawing: 220 x 300 mm - Margins at sight: 270 x 340 mm
This magnificent stencil, one of Brunelleschi's most beautiful productions, engraved by Reidel, comes from the superb and very rare album by Gérard d'Houville: "The Masks and Characters of the Italian Comedy", P., Journal des Dames et des Modes, 1914. It included 12 stencils and was printed in 415 copies. Printed by MM. Braun and colored by Greningaire et Cie.
Note: this stencil was found already framed, we did not take it out of its portfolio, our ethics prohibit us from "breaking" complete works.
