Jean-pierre Colin (romans 1767-grenoble 1820)

Artist: Jean-pierre Colin
Emperor Napoleon I in profile bust Watercolor engraved overlines, annotated at the bottom "Grenoble March 9, 1815-Colin".
The fallen Emperor leaves the island of Elba to try to reach Paris. He stops in Grenoble from March 7 to 9, 1815.
Colin draws the character in profile, in military uniform, green and red tailcoat with gold epaulettes, pinned with medals, wearing a cocked bicorn.
In order to respond to the numerous orders, he engraves his subject on a copper plate in order to produce numerous proofs on paper which he then watercolors.
