Large crackled ceramic box with stylized decoration representing a woman holding an umbrella. Harmonious green decoration of flowers and scrolls on the figure's dress, the radiance underlined in green of the umbrella, highlighting the turned face of the figure. Good condition: small chips visible on the beige edge entering the box.
Edouard Cazaux (1889-1974) is a sculptor and ceramist.
Coming from a family of potters from the southwest of France, he set up his workshop in Varenne-Saint-Hilaire in 1918 and participated in numerous exhibitions: Tuileries, Artistes Décorateurs, Salon d'Automne, including the International Exhibition of Industrial and Modern Decorative Arts of 1925. He exhibited his works in several galleries including the Rouard gallery and the Grand Dépôt.
