Wilhem or Guillaume Wintz (1824-1899)was born in Cologne in 1824,he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf,then emigrated to France in 1849 and settled in Rémilly in Moselle to study with painter Auguste Rolland.He moved to Paris in 1856 and exhibited at the Salon des Paysages Pastoraux et des Peintures Animalières from 1855 to 1898.
