Robert Heraud (1926-2010), a painter originally from Sancerre, developed a passion for pottery after meeting potters from La Borne and Saint-Amand-de-Puisaye. Alongside his painting, he began working with ceramics and opened a gallery in Sancerre where he exhibited his paintings, works by ceramicists from La Borne, tapestries, and Scandinavian furniture. He exhibited at the Musée du Berry in Bourges and at the Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires. He met Annie Maume, whom he trained in pottery, and together they set up a ceramics workshop where they each created functional pieces and sculptures.
