Statue representing Saint Michael slaying the demon with his sword. Southern Germany (Alps?) 17th century. Softwood carved in the round with remnants of polychromy. Michael is depicted standing, wearing an alb pulled tight above the belt and forming large, heavy folds. He crushes the demon with his feet and brandishes his sword. His long, curly hair is held back by a ribbon. Note his very handsome, youthful, baby-like face. Height: 65 cm. Minor repairs due to use. Sold with an expert certificate.
