Vietnamese high dignitary saber called guom - Vietnam, 2nd half of the 19th century. Handle made of fossilized mammoth molar. Chiseled and embossed silver pommel depicting a lion's head or foal dog. Copper alloy guard. Scabbard made of noble wood with mother-of-pearl inlays with floral motifs and silver sheet elements. The rivet is not made of silver but of tinplate and is probably a later replacement. Slightly curved single-edged blade.
