View of the Romanesque parish church of Saint-Rémi de Poilly (west of Reims), in ruins after the fighting of the First World War. It was classified as a Historic Monument in 1919, the year of our drawing. Émile Nigron, an entrepreneur from Reims and the dedicatee of the drawing, worked with his father Albert Nigron on the restoration of Reims Cathedral after the First World War, under the direction of the architect Henri Deneux.
