Object description :

"Famille Rose Plate - Chinese Porcelain - East India Company - Qianlong Period, 18th Century"
Fine Chinese porcelain plate, hand-decorated in the Famille Rose (fencai) style, dated to the Qianlong period (1736–1795), Qing dynasty, and intended for export to Europe via the East India Companies. The center is adorned with a delicate decoration representing two exotic birds perched on branches of flowering peonies, accompanied by stylized butterflies and foliage. The whole is executed with soft enamels in a characteristic palette: pink, jade green, pale yellow, turquoise and coral red. Style: Famille Rose This style, which appeared under the Yongzheng Emperor (1723–1735), reached its full development under Qianlong. It is distinguished by the use of opaque enamels applied overglaze, then annealed at low temperature, allowing soft and nuanced hues. The compositions are often floral, poetic, inspired by traditional Chinese symbols of prosperity, longevity and harmony.⸻Workshop: JingdezhenThe plate was made in Jingdezhen, a major center of imperial and export porcelain production. At that time, the pieces were made in specialized collective workshops, according to a rigorous division of labor. Pieces intended for export were generally not signed, the artisans working anonymously within organized structures.⸻East India CompanyThis plate, recognizable by its two concentric blue circles under the base, was specifically intended for the European market. It was part of the cargoes ordered by the East India Companies (French, Dutch, British), very active in the 18th century. These exceptional objects then adorned the tables of European elites.⸻Condition: Very good overall condition. The enamel is well preserved, the colors bright and stable. Please note: a thin visor on the reverse, visible but stable, without structural impact. No restoration, chip or through crack.⸻Dimensions: • Diameter: 21.5 cm • Height: approx. 3 cm⸻Asking price: 320 euros
