Two Cantonese Famille Rose vases with palace scenes and birds from the Guanxu period (1875-1908)

Canton is the name of the port city of Guangzhou in southern China. Porcelain is believed to have been produced in this region since the Tang Dynasty (618-904). However, the majority of porcelain produced in Canton does not date from this period, but from the Qing Dynasty (1664-1912). Canton was the only port legally authorized to export Chinese goods to Europe. These vases are also called "Rose Medallion" because the different decorative representations appeared on different panels. Gilt decoration was used for the finishing. The necks of the vases are decorated with temple lions and serpents.

Condition: Both vases are in good condition with no visible signs of damage.
