Imposing portrait of a woman in plaster with a marbled finish by Henri Hanniet, a sculptor born in Ons-en-Bray (near Beauvais) and based in Ervy-le-Châtel (a little north of Tonnerre). Hanniet was a student of Henri Gréber (also from Beauvais) and Maxime Darley, and exhibited at the Salon des artistes français in the 1930s. This woman is probably : “No. 2255 – Mrs. M. Vallet; plaster bust”, exhibited at the 1938 Salon.
