A Crystal And Gilt Bronze Cup, Late 19th Century
Saint-Louis Cut-Crystal and Gilt-Bronze Bowl – Napoleon III Period, Late 19th Century
An elegant circular Saint-Louis cut-crystal bowl set within a richly chased and gilt-bronze mount in the Empire style.
The crystal bowl features a flared rim enhanced by a finely cut band of intersecting geometric motifs. The openwork bronze mount is adorned with lion masks, foliate garlands, ribbon-tied laurel wreaths and finely chased ornamental borders.
The ensemble is raised on four supports terminating in lion’s-paw feet, lending the piece a distinguished neoclassical presence.
The quality of the chasing and the warm brilliance of the gilding beautifully complement the clarity and refinement of the crystal.
French work from the Napoleon III period, late 19th century.
In excellent condition. The crystal is intact, with only minor signs of wear beneath the base.
