The "beautiful bird" is perched on an ear (of corn?) whose stalk it bends under its weight. This does not prevent it from singing with its half-open beak. The inclined stem is set in a black marble base, with rounded angles 'au naturel'. It bears the signature "AV BECQUEREL": the A and the V are intertwined, for André Vincent. At the foot of the stem, a stamped number: 186. An 'aerial' animal subject that Becquel had made a specialty of.
