This magnificent vase, typical of the production of the Établissements Emile Gallé (1904 - 1936) and the Art Nouveau aesthetic of the early 20th century, is a remarkable work of glass art. Made of multi-layered glass, it displays a delicate and nuanced color palette, ranging from a pale, luminous yellow at the top, evolving into a gradient of opalescent white in the center, and then to warm tones of reddish-brown and burgundy at the base. The acid-etching technique has been used to create a refined floral decoration throughout the vase. The main motif depicts branches of climbing flowers, likely fuchsias or similar plants with their characteristic pendulous flowers and buds. The stylized leaves, with their organic contours and delicately rendered veins, add to the richness of the design. The contrast between the exposed layers of glass highlights the depth and texture of the design. The shape of the vase is elongated, with a narrow neck flaring gently towards the shoulder. It rests on a bulbous and stable base, called "elephant's foot", which provides it with a seat. This silhouette is completed by the plant decoration. This vase is an emblematic piece of the know-how of the Gallé Establishments, which perpetuated the artistic legacy of Émile Gallé, master glassmaker of the Nancy School, and perfectly illustrates his inspiration from nature and his mastery of innovative techniques of artistic glass. It would be a choice acquisition for any Art Nouveau lover or collector of prestigious glassware.
