"Reflections In The Water. Oil On Wood. Pierre Georges Jeanniot, Impressionist."
Painter: Pierre-Georges Jeanniot (1848-1934), born in Geneva to French parents. Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1872 to 1929. Painter and draftsman. Son and student of the painter Pierre Alexandre Jeanniot in Dijon. An officer, he abandoned his military career to devote himself to painting and settled in Paris in 1881. This painting is a nature scene painted in oil on wood. It is a wooded landscape at the edge of a body of water, painted in an impressionist style. In the foreground, we can see a body of water, animated by undulating colored reflections in a subtle play of light. On the right, vegetation and a few trees with dark trunks. On the other side of the body of water, a meadow spreads out. The vegetation thickens towards the background, where many trees stand. We find purple, blue and pink tones, giving an impression of mist or twilight. The sky, too, is a pastel color, changing from pink to gray. Dimensions: 27 × 19 cm
