Louis Floutier (1882-1936). Circle of Louis Floutier. Unframed oil on canvas. Lady reading on a terrace, in front of a vast countryside landscape in the summer. A signature (Apocryphal) at the top right and dated 1929. Louis Floutier was born in Toulouse in 1882 where he trained for five years at the city's School of Fine Arts, then he entered the Académie des Beaux Arts in Paris on November 3, 1903, under the direction of M. Cormon. He moved to the Basque country around 1919 and participated in the founding of the potteries of Ciboure. From 1922 he devoted himself to Basque landscapes and died in St Jean de Luz in 1936. Note restorations with pieces visible on the back of the canvas. Some small losses.
