"Violin Carved With The Image Of Django Reinhard. Musical Instrument"
Violin carved with the image of Django Reinhard. Musical instrumentThis is a violin made at the beginning of the 20th century whose back was later carved with a representation of Django Reinhard, the famous guitarist playing his gypsy guitar. In addition, a hedgehog sculpture adorns the upper part of the back. The maple back measures 361 mm. The hand-carved table has pronounced arches. The varnish of the yellow-brown table has heated a little on the left side. The headstock is well carved and the pegs are made of boxwood. The fingerboard is made of ebonized hardwood. The violin is in playing condition, restored in our workshops and mounted with Corelli crystal strings with a tailpiece with 4 fine tuners to facilitate tuning. You should not expect a powerful sound with such a violin. When the violin is carved in this way, it loses thickness and the ability of the back to reflect the sound vigorously is reduced. The result is therefore a sound quite poor in harmonics and not very powerful. It remains nonetheless that this atypical instrument is playable and unique in its genre.
