Bruno Bieth (1937- 2014), an Alsatian artist deeply rooted in Catalonia, was a poet, painter and teacher. Born in Strasbourg, he moved to Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines in 1970 where he taught while cultivating an intense artistic life, marked by gentleness, humanity and passion. His work combines poetry and painting in a sincere quest for beauty and personal expression. He published "Les Flaques" in 1955, followed by numerous collections including Coups de cœur and Nika mon amour, a tribute to his first wife. He always combines honesty, generosity and civic engagement in his creations. A nature lover, he painted Catalan landscapes and scenes without ever rejecting the figurative. His Sardana Fountain, erected in 1985 in Sant-Laurent-de-Cerdans, illustrates his attachment to local culture. He exhibited in Paris, San Francisco, and Barcelona, but remained loyal to the Albères region, becoming a regional figure. An illustrator for various works, he advocated a sincere, spontaneous, and vibrant art.
