Eugen Adam (1817 - 1880), German painter born andborn and died in Munich, is best known for his historical, genre and battle scenes.and battle scenes. Son of the painter Albrecht Adam, he was part of a familyartistic tradition. He began by creating studies inspired by the firstthe first Italian War of Independence (1848-1849), then spent time inItaly until 1856. Back in Munich, he devoted himself to a variety of scenescombining folklore, hunting and military subjects, notably around thethe Franco-Prussian War of 1870, with a predilection for close-combat andscenes linked to the military context.
