Victor Guillaume, born in 1880 in Tantonville, is a multi-talented artist from Lorraine: painter, engraver, lithographer and sculptor. Coming from a modest background, he began his career as a wood sculptor for Eugène Vallin, then adorned facades such as that of the Excelsior in Nancy. An active member of the "Jeune École Lorraine", he benefited from the support of Eugène Corbin and exhibited with other regional artists. From his thirties, he devoted himself exclusively to painting, influenced by Impressionism, Cézanne and then Cubism. André Vahl describes his style as "refined Cubism". Committed to promoting modern art, he participated in the Nancy-Paris Committee. Settling in Vaudémont in 1935, he tirelessly painted his Lorraine homeland. True to his roots, he died in 1942 in secrecy and poverty. His modest grave reflects the simplicity of his life, marked by a love of his land.
