Pair of paintings depicting two fishing scenes at low tide. The first painting shows a woman sitting on a rock, a basket at her feet, and a fisherman, net over his shoulder, conversing. The second painting depicts two women fishing on foot, wearing wooden clogs, and two others talking in the background. These two oil paintings are signed Doria in the lower right corner. Note small old repairs on one of the canvases, see photos. Teresa Durazzo Doria: Born on December 14, 1805, in Genoa, née Teresa Durazzo, married Giorgio Doria, Count of Montaldeo, on November 5, 1823. She was a student of Rosa Carrea Bacigalupo for portraiture, of Domenico Cambiaso for landscape painting (which she greatly admired), and also of Massimo Lazeglio, to whom she was very close. She participated in the exhibitions of the Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts of the City of Genoa. 1854 to 1873. In 1861 she participated in the Florence exhibition where she presented a painting entitled "Duel". She was appointed professor at the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa (founded in 1751).
