Object description :

"Eugene Lacroix : "portrait Of A Prelate To Be Restored 1848""
E. Lacroix: "Portrait of a Prelate 1848", oil on canvas signed and dated 73 X 60 cm, unframed, Bordeaux stretcher from "A La Palette d'or Bonnet".
Numerous scratches and a hole.
Although auctioneers regularly attribute these works to Joseph-Eugène Lacroix (1814-1873), renowned architect and draftsman, it is more likely the work of Joseph Eugène Milliès-Lacroix, known as Eugène Lacroix (Montauban 1809 - Dax 1856) who gives us here the portrait of a priest with a wide belt tied under the chest, seated in a comfortable armchair and with an intelligent and alert face.
No doubt that a good restoration will restore all its presence to this beautiful, superbly painted portrait.
