Louis XV period cabriolet armchair stamped MDLP by Martin Delaporte (Died in 1756) It rests on arched legs. In molded and carved wood, upholstered in tapestry. The structure is still quite solid with some old restorations and traces of woodworm. The period tapestry is in used condition. The seat is sagging and needs redoing. Seat height: 39 cm Dimensions: H 93 W 66 D 56 cm Martin Delaporte (Died in 1756) - seat carpenter. He ran a furniture carpentry workshop on rue des Filles-Dieu Saint Sauveur. Belonging to a large family of Parisian carpenters, Martin Delaporte was a very good seat maker. He is credited with beautiful, well-balanced Louis XV style armchairs. The MDLP stamp was used by Martin DELAPORTE's workshop from the 1740s. His stamp is also found on Louis XVI style seats, but which were undoubtedly made by his nephew Martin Nicolas who took over his workshop and his stamp after his death.
