Biography:
Pierre Neveu was born in Paris on July 10, 1929, and died on December 12, 2025. He lived and worked in Saint-Gratien. His artistic studies took him from the École Boulle to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in the studio of Maurice Brianchon. In 1953, Pierre Neveu began his career as a drawing teacher for the City of Paris. Seconded in 1960 to the CREDIF (Research and Study Center for the Dissemination of French) at the École Normale Supérieure in Saint-Cloud, he was responsible for creating images for audiovisual teaching methods (French/foreign languages). An internationally renowned figurative painter, Pierre Neveu was awarded the Medal of Honor at the Salon des Artistes Français in 2007. He exhibited frequently, both in France and in the United States, where he enjoyed great success, particularly with his luminous, colorful, and skillfully composed landscapes. A discreet, loyal, and attentive man, deeply attached to Saint-Gratien, he gave much without ever seeking the limelight. We will not forget that unique light in his paintings—that incomparable "Pierre Neveu blue" that gave his works their brilliance.
