Carriage clock with grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, and silent modes. Strikes automatically at the hour, half-hour, and quarter-hour, with a push-button to activate the strike button on demand. Brass case in “gorge” style with five beveled glass panels.
White enamel dial signed MAYENCE Paris.
Strikes the hours and quarters on two gongs with two hammers; a third hammer is used for the alarm. Anchor escapement.


Chime mode selection (grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, or silence) via a lever at the base of the case.
Late 19th century.
Height: 14 cm with handle down, 18 cm with handle raised.

Mayence was active in the Faubourg Saint-Martin district between 1860 and 1880.

In grande sonnerie mode, the clock strikes both the hours and the quarter-hours.
In petite sonnerie mode, it strikes only the quarters.
In silent mode, the clock does not strike at all.

Condition report: The clock is in good condition. The beveled glasses are flawless, with no chips or cracks. The enamel dial is in excellent condition, free of any damage or hairlines. The movement and striking mechanism are working correctly. one bell is not original.
