"Antique Louis XV Period 18th Century Walnut And Marquetry Sloping Desk"
Old desk called a slope desk or donkey's back from the Louis XV period, 18th century. It is made of walnut decorated with marquetry with fillet in several wood species on a softwood background (classic for the time). In a very Louis XV style transition to Louis XVI, it offers pretty arched legs and scalloped crosspieces. It opens with a flap revealing 4 stepped drawers and a central secret cache blocking the two drawers on the front thanks to 2 keys/pulls hidden in the trapdoor. Once the flap is locked, everything is then blocked. 2 molded drawers on the front. Functional lock and key, drawer handles and lock entries in bronze. Furniture in very good condition with a redone shellac finish. Dimensions: Length: 88 cm – Depth closed: 50 cm – Height: 92 cm. Full of charm.
